The Best Home Improvement Projects for the Summer Season

Knock out your home improvement this year with Jancewicz & Son and these summer home improvement projects.

Summer is here! The days are longer, the days are sunnier, and many homeowners are taking this time to tackle the home improvement projects they’ve had on their list for some time. It’s for good reason. Summer is a popular time of year for home improvement projects, especially home exterior projects. Some of these projects you can tackle from home, while others are best done with a professional. Here are some of the best projects to take on during the summer.

Re-stain Your Deck

Ideally, you should already have a deck installed by summer. This is the best time of year to use it, after all! However, your deck will probably get plenty of use this season, so you want to make sure that it’s freshly and protectively stained in order to stand up to the foot traffic and the elements. You won’t have to do this every year and likely won’t have to do this with a new deck, but if it’s been a while since your deck has been re-stained, now is the time.

Clean or Replace Your Roof Gutters

Over winter and spring, your roof gutters likely built up quite a bit of leaves and debris. If this isn’t cleaned every few months, this clutter can keep water from being funneled into the gutters, meaning it could pool onto the roof instead. It’s essential to clean your roof gutters, and summer is a great time to do so. If your gutters are torn or bent out of shape, you might be interested in replacing them with new gutters. You can also install gutter caps to protect your gutters from debris in the future.

Replace Your Windows

With longer, sunnier days, you can keep your home lit by sunlight for a longer period of time in summer than any other time of year. For this, however, you need the right windows. If your windows are old and worn or haven’t held up to the elements well, summer is a good time of year to replace them. You might even consider installing new windows altogether to add to the light that a room receives.
